Shelley Jacks is a powerhouse psychologist, entrepreneur and community champion who transformed her vision into reality. Since founding Magnus Health in 2019, she has built an extraordinary NDIS support company—which has grown to over 182 dedicated professionals and now delivers 12,000 hours of life changing support every fortnight across the region.

Her expertise runs deep: 10 years as a psychologist with Queensland Corrective Services working with high-risk offenders, a decade facilitating domestic violence prevention programs, plus experience with Qld Health and her own private practice.

But Shelley doesn’t just build businesses—she builds hope. Over three years, Magnus Health have raised an incredible $455 000 for grassroots charities through signature events like the Magnus Ball.

A leader who doesn’t just talk the talk—she walks the walk, and makes it look effortless.

This presentation brings together what I have learned as a psychologist, businesswoman and mum.

I share lessons from some of the hardest rooms I have found myself in – from working with high-risk offenders in prison to sitting beside my daughter Holly in hospital as she has struggled with anorexia.

These very different experiences have shaped my understanding of adversity, resilience and, most importantly, hope.
Blending personal stories with practical, science-based insights, I explore what hope really is, why it matters, how we build it and how we hold onto it when life gets tough.

Because even in the hardest rooms, hope can change what is possible.
