How to use content to grow your business

It has never been easier to use content to grow your business. By consistently delivering high-quality content to your audience, you build trust and position yourself as a leader within your industry. Make your content easy to find, entertaining, valuable and relevant, and your audience will thank you for it with their loyalty and (hopefully) by sharing it with their network. Well curated content, whether it’s a blog, podcast, video, infographic or otherwise, gives you another avenue to reach new potential clients and it continues to work for you while you’re focusing on other tasks.

Here are some simple ways to use content to grow your business.

Hold regular Q&A sessions

You know your business, you know what you can offer your audience, so why not hold sessions and allow them to see you know your stuff? A question and answer session gives you the opportunity to open a conversation with your potential clients, and gives them the opportunity to get advice from a pro (that’s you). Set a weekly or fortnightly topic, let your followers know via email, social media, and your website, and have a few golden pieces of knowledge ready to hand over. There are so many ways to deliver a Q&A session, find one that suits your style and audience and make sure you re-purpose what you create! The aim after all, is to use content to grow your business.

Someone who does this really well is Jack Delosa from The Entourage. Jack has a scheduled time to do a Facebook Live, he knows his topic, prepares what he’s going to say, then answers questions and lets his audience know what to expect from him next. Jack and the team at The Entourage are an excellent source of business related content because they’re easy to access, consistent and relevant. If you need some inspiration for your content or you want to devour some delicious business know-how yourself, bookmark www.the-entourage.edu.au, you’ll thank me later.

Open the door to guest posting

If you’re already blogging, vlogging, or posting on your favourite social media channels, why not expand your horizons and start guest posting? Reach out to websites, podcasts, Facebook groups, and blogs who are already capturing the attention of your target market and submit your content, reshare theirs and remember the aim is to contribute. Create content that adds value for the reader, helps the owner of that blog/website/group flourish, and lay off the sales pitch. Remember, to use content to grow your business you share your views, knowledge and opinions as a service to others, not just to sell, sell, sell. Try websites like ladybossblogger.com or medium.com, who are both known for their guest post opportunities.

Using other people’s content (with permission is always best!) not only supports your fellow business person, it also gives you extra ‘stuff’ to give your audience without having to take the time to create it yourself. Win-win!

Create your top ‘must’ lists

Everyone loves to be featured in a list, fortunately a list also benefits you. Create a list of must follow blogs, must read marketing tips, must visit restaurants, must read books or must binge podcasts – include links to the people you’re featuring, let them know you’ve featured them in your top list and give them the link to view and share your work. Congratulations, you’ve just created a fan of your list who is invested in sharing it to their network, thus expanding your reach too. Creating regular lists will give you the opportunity to make new network connections and collaborate, as well as use content to grow your business.

You’re opening a whole new realm of possibilities simply by learning how to use content to grow your business. You never know the eyes you may catch, the problems you might solve or the day you could make for a person. If you’ve got some fabulous content you’d like to share, why not tell me about it in the comments? Make sure you leave a link too, so I can go and see it for myself.
