About The Event

Empower House is proud to present the inaugural charity fundraiser event, A Seat At The Table Charity Fundraiser Event. This charity fundraiser event is in support of the Ozcare Gold Coast Women’s Refuge. The refuge, also called a shelter or safe house, is a safe and secure place for women and their children to find accommodation when escaping domestic violence in their home or community. The refuge provides accommodation referral services, advocacy, emotional support, legal support and a variety of other support services. All profits from A Seat At The Table go directly to the refuge to help them in supporting our local women.

Join us on Saturday June the 16th at Harry’s Steak Bistro & Bar in stunning Burleigh Heads for a delectable three-course meal and 4 hour beverage package. We will have live entertainment and a silent auction on the day, as well as a donation box for those who are feeling generous.

All profits from the event go to the Gold Coast Ozcare women’s refuge.

About The Host

Empower House is the brainchild of Gold Coast based Life & Business Coach, Lauren Bryant. Empower House offers life and business coaching, social media marketing, content creation, and downloadable business products. Lauren started Empower House with a vision of eliminating domestic violence in Australia through empowering women; assisting them to become confident, financially independent, and design the life they dream of. Empower House has also established a mentoring program within the Ozcare Gold Coast women’s refuge, spending time working with the women to help them move forward in their lives.

About The Venue

Harry’s Steak Bistro & Bar, located in the Gold Coast’s beautiful Burleigh Heads, is the hidden-in-plain-sight gem that you simply must visit. With room for over 100 food and beverage enthusiasts throughout the effortlessly chic restaurant, bar and alfresco dining areas. This venue is warm and comfortable, with recycled red-clay bricks, black chairs and greenery hanging from above, you’ll forget that the outside world exists. The lighting is perfectly ambient and who can forget the star of the restaurant? The life sized bull who watches over the delightful bar as he would his paddock queens in real life, although here he is surrounded by Hollywood lights – a true star indeed! Words like ‘organic’ and ‘grass-fed’ dot the menu, there is something for everyone in this bistro. Co-owner Pete Tayler assures us the restaurant caters for just about everyone, regardless of dietary requirements – providing delicious meals for vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians and those with food intolerances is never a problem for Harry’s skilled chefs. The restaurant boasts a delicious selection of cocktails, popular beers as well as craft beers on tap, as well as a wine list sourced from growers who are focused on organic and sustainable methods. There’s also a little something wonderful for those who have a sweet tooth – Harry’s really has it all and we are so excited to be making ourselves at home in this divine venue for the lunch event not to be missed!

About The Charity

Ozcare is the special work of St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland, established in 1996. With over 320 services including Aged Care, Dementia Care, NDIS, Disability & Health Services, Homeless Hostels, Drug & Alcohol Recovery Services, and Women’s Refuges; Ozcare has some 3000 staff and 350 volunteers who are dedicated to helping our seniors and people with disability stay in their homes as long as possible, provide respite services to carers, offer homely aged care facilities to our elderly and to help those who are disadvantaged get back on their feet.

For more than 20 years, Ozcare have been delivering health and human services to our Queensland community and are the leading not-for-profit organisation of professional and caring individuals. Ozcare currently have 5 confidential refuges throughout Queensland for use by women and their children who are unable to stay at home because of family or domestic violence. The refuges are fully furnished with household items to provide temporary accommodation, support to find schools for children and other child-related services, access to workshops on various life skills, support to find permanent housing, and referrals for counselling, legal and immigration services, and more.

About The Entertainment

A Seat At The Table wouldn’t be complete without fabulous live entertainment. We are proud to announce Emma Lancaster will be delivering the Gold Coast’s best vocals at our event. Emma Lancaster has performed for some of the most prestigious events on the Gold Coast as well as internationally. She is incredibly talented not only as a solo performer but also a DJ, MC, and performs in a Duo and Showband Luminosity.

About The Food & Drink

Harry’s Steak Bistro & Bar have so graciously put together the menu to end all event menus. Pete presented us with a selection of dishes for each course and we wish we didn’t have to choose (Please Pete, don’t make us choose!). As we are a large group, our two options for each course will be delivered as an alternative drop – by all means swap around if you get a little case of food envy. Our mains are served with bread, salad and unlimited frites – yes, unlimited.

As we’ve said before, this is a three-course meal and there is absolutely no chance of you walking away hungry… HOWEVER! We do need to know if you have any dietary requirements. So please, let us know if you have anything we need to be aware of when you book your tickets; this way our wonderful venue can create a delicious three-course meal to meet your needs. For those who have no unique requirements, buckle up – your taste buds are about to take you for a ride you will not forget.

As for the beverage package, we have a little something for everyone. A selection of popular and craft beers, red, white and sparkling wine as well as a range of soft drinks and juices.

About The Tickets

In creating A Seat At The Table, we have thought long and hard about how we can open up the event to as many people as possible, while still raising much needed funds for the women’s refuge. For this reason, we decided that we would let you choose what you pay. Regardless of which amount you choose, you will have the same experience as everyone else – and we’ll do our absolute best to make sure your experience is a fabulous one!

Why are we doing this? A few reasons, the first being that each person is in a different financial position and we respect that. Secondly, we trust our Gold Coasters will support this cause as much as they can, with whatever they can afford.

Payment plans are also available, a non-refundable deposit of $50 secures your seat at the table with the balance split over the following 3 weeks.
